A guide to a weekend away in the Hunter Valley

Day 1

 First of all Head over to Wynwood estate for a sample of a range of their finest wines during a wine tasting. Or, to complete the wine tasting experiences, choose a wine tasting and cheese option for an all-round experience. and You can’t go past the Blossom rosé which is a winner and best seller. You can also enjoy lunch at Wynwood Estate’s restaurant.

 

Hanging tree wines is your next go-to winery to visit. This winery has some spectacular and insta-worthy photo opportunities all around the grounds. 

 

If you want to head to the centre of the Hunter Valley, Becker wines

 

Day 2 

 

Towards the middle or end of your visit, take a drive to the tranquil picturesque area of the Broke Fordwich wine region in the Hunter Valley.

 

It’s a 10 minute drive west of the Hunter Valley, however it holds some of the oldest and largest wineries from organic to bio-dynamic. 

 

Sometimes you just want to get out of the hustle and bustle and enjoy a relaxed day out without being rushed through a wine tasting. 

 

Head over to Catherine Vale Wines and Talits Estate Wine Tasting. After that drop into the Alpaca Farm and feed the Alpaca’s. One tip you only need one packet of pellets and this will last forever.

 

Next head over to Barb at Ascella Estate. She has the largest organic winery in Hunter Valley. You can taste wines by the Silk tree and enjoy an organic cheese and olive tasting. It’s all about the appreciation of where the wine comes from and the philosophy behind the hard work in producing such quality wines that makes this winery 



Day 3

 

Your trip wouldn’t be complete without some cheese tasting. Tasting local Hunter Valley cheese is usually top of most people's list when they visit…and drinking wine of course! Visit the Hunter Cheese Factory, Binnorie Dairy Cheese and the Hunter Belle Cheese Room. Hunter Belle is located in Pokolbin, near DeIuliis Wines and they have both a cheese Deli, bar and gift section all in one - great space to enjoy and wind down in the afternoon. Don’t forget a small cooler bag to take some goodies home.
